Learn English with this super English idiom “Face the music”

Great comment last night from Ilona who said her holidays were basically over and time to “face the music” again. I presume this means go back to “work”. As you can see in my reply “Face the music” means to confront a tough situation or to receive punishment.

Check out this example from the dictionary:

“Mary broke a dining-room window and had to face the music when her father got home. After failing a math test, Tom had to go home and face the music.”
